  • The Bee Gees sign with Robert Stigwood, an executive with the Beatles NEMS Enterprises and their 2nd recording “New York Mining Disaster 1941″ is released, becomes a top 10 hit and the rest as they say, is history. 
  • Elvis marries Priscilla on May 1, in Las Vegas. 
  • The Beatles monumental album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” is released and will be the groups biggest seller. 
  • The Beatles manager, Brian Epstein dies of an overdose of sleeping pills at the age of 32. 
  • On November 9 the first Issue of Rolling Stone Magazine is published, featuring John Lennon on the cover. 
  • A “Supergroup” is formed, called Cream, Ginger Baker, Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce. 
  • Kenny Rogers leaves the New Christy Minstrels and forms a new band called “The First Edition” which would have great success and spend an enormous amount of time in Toronto, with TV commitments. 
  • Steve Winwood leaves the Spencer Davis Group, forms Traffic with Dave Mason, Jim Capaldi and Chris Wood.  Shortly after the Spencer Davis group disbands.
