I think Dorsey Burnett would fit on your blog
This is a great web site Russ. I do see you have The Dave Clark 5. Would also like to see The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Tornados and other British groups added to your list.
Hi Trevor Including the Beatles will be a tall order – like, what hasn’t already been said?, if you know what I mean… —– Original Message —–
My dad was in two early Canadian Rock and Roll bands in the late 50′s, one was called The Cosmos and the other was The Atlantics. According to the newspaper clippings I’ve collected both bands were a big hit on the club circuit. The Cosmos released only one 45 record on the Regency label #744X called “My Love, My Love”, where as The Atlantics went into the studio and recorded over eleven songs for an upcoming album that was never released. The question is, what would have happened if those songs had of been released back in their time ? Could those four teenagers have been rocketed to stardom ? The truth is, no one knows, all we can do is wonder………
Gary. it’s Wally the starter at The Highlands.
I looked for your blog you mentioned and low and behold here I am.
Furthermore my wife and I go and watch Russ (The Martels) whenever we find out where they are playing. We go to Kempenfest every year to see them.
The Martels are a great Canadian talent and Russ is a super sax player.
The Highwaymen (Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson) were the Fab Four of country music!! The Beatles were the Fab Four of pop!! Any idea as to whether either of these will be eventually added here? A lot of work I know guys, just asking!!
Sorry saw your earlier comment re The Beatles, disregard that from my comment!!
