On the drive to Myrtle Beach (17 hrs) we listen to Satellite Radio and specifically 50’s on 5. There are other stations, but I heard this song on that station and my wife and I both made the comment, you just never here this song played anywhere.
Well here it is for the Blog. Larry has been gone a lot of years, but I still remember the song.
Larry Finnegan (Born Johnny Lawrence Finnegan August 10th 1938 in New York, New York ) hit the top 20 on the music charts in The USA in 1962 with this great rockabilly tune called Dear One.
Larry co-wrote this song with his brother Vinnie in 1961 and took his demo to Hy Weiss of Old Town Records where he was signed to a recording contract. The song reached number 11 early in 1962.
In 1964 Larry recorded Dear One part 2 on RIC records but did not manage to chart with it
Although Larry did not manage to hit again in the USA he became quite popular in Europe for a period of time in the early 1960’s.
Sadly Larry died in South Bend Indiana in 1973 of a brain Tumor.
