This will be another one hit person. At age 18, he was unknown when he sent a demo tape to famed country producer Chet Atkins. The demo was impressive, and Atkins signed him to a recording contract with RCA-Victor. He is a Country Singer, but crossed over with a Song written by Willie Nelson and produced by Chet Atkins . ..

Elledge’s debut single, the country ballad “Funny How Time Slips Away” – produced by Atkins, was written by a soon-to-be country superstar named “Willie Nelson”.

Willie had already been recorded this song but Jimmie Elledge’s version reached #22 on the US Top 30 Billboard charts in 1962 and earned him a gold disc for selling over a million copies.

He later joined the Hickory label in the mid-60s but had no further US chart success.
