The Echoes

I seemed to be stuck in the One Hit Area tonight.  I do like this song, but there are a lot of versions, so I will only deal with the one that charted in 1961.

The Echoes

1. Baby Blue/ Seg-Way 103/ March 1961/ #12

2. Sad Eyes/ Seg-Way/ June 1961

In late 1960, Sam Guilino, a Long Island music teacher and Val Lageux, an assistant principal, penned a song called “Baby Blue“, which they gave to the Echoes to practice.  They took the group to a friend named Jack Gold, who had the tune recorded for Seg-Way records.  It was released in February 1961, and became a National Hit.
