One Hit Wonders
1956
This is the year that Elvis would be the king, but lose the right to just be able to walk the streets; his private life was gone. His appearances on “Stage Show” and Television in general would change his life forever. What would later be called Doo-wop Music (it was black R&B) would start to sell to the teenagers. Alan Freed gets a new show called “Rock and Roll Dance Party” in which he gives the Black Groups exposure. Elvis would own the TV Screens, Milton Berle, Steve Allen and finally Ed Sullivan (he stated publicly that he would never have him on). Harry Bellefonte launches the “Calypso Sound”.

Just curious . . . what does the picture of Clarence ‘Frogman’ Henry posted under “Priscilla” have to do with Ed Cooley & the Dimples?
Your curiosity is great. Keep it up. Every once in a while we slip up – somehow the wrong image was used for Ed Cooley. The correct image should now be there. Thanks a lot!
